Sean P. Atha

SVP, Business Development at RIVER CITY MEDICAL GROUP

Sean Atha serves as the River City Medical Group’s Senior Vice President of Business Development. In this capacity, he is accountable for identifying and creating new innovative growth opportunities for RCMG and RCMG affiliated organizations. Additionally, he is accountable for creating opportunities for expanding the RCMG business model to new geographic areas and expanded product lines. He represents RCMG on numerous industry leadership forums. He also often represents RCMG at the national level as part of the American Physician Groups leadership.

Mr. Atha is a Medi-Cal Managed Care industry leader with over 25 years of experience directly involved with the design of health benefits to underserved populations and with California Medi-Cal Managed Care programs. As a Medicaid leader, he has had direct accountability for Medicaid programs for Anthem in California, contracting for Health Net and has been part of several national Medicaid leaderships teams. Additionally, he served with the Department of Health Care Services in the development of provider network design and network access standard regulations as well as managed care program implementation throughout the California central valley. He has also served the State of California on various Department of Health Care Services and Department of Managed Health Care advisory committees. He also serves as a Medi-Cal subject matter expert on the California Quality Collaborative through the Pacific Business Group on Health. He also is active with telehealth working with industry e-Consult leaders as well as participates with the California Telehealth Policy Coalition.

Mr. Atha earned a Master in Health Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelors of Arts in Politics, Legal Studies & Economics from the University of California Santa Cruz.

Mr. Atha is a member of America’s Physician Groups (APG) and The State Government Programs & Policy Committees.
