River Cottage

River Cottage all started in 1999 when Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall moved into the original River Cottage in Dorset, to start growing and rearing some of his own food. River Cottage has since moved on, and has grown and developed, but we continue to stand for the same principles: self-sufficiency, food integrity, and the consumption of local, seasonal produce. More recently, Hugh's campaigns have been changing the eating habits of a nation and improving the welfare and sustainability of animals and fish. River Cottage HQ (Park Farm, near Axminster) is our base for running courses and events inspired by the philosophy of the original River Cottage. Our Cookery School won the Best Cookery School Award in the Great British Food Awards 2018. With a range of courses available, including foraging, curing, gardening, bread making, butchery, outdoor cookery and more there is bound to be something for everyone. You can find out more about our courses at the farm here - https://www.rivercottage.net/courses You can find out more about our online courses here - https://www.rivercottage.net/online April 2022 sees the relocation of our River Cottage Kitchen and Store from Axminster town centre to the River Cottage HQ Farm, where you can stop by for lunch or coffee and find River Cottage Products. Our other projects include series for television, regular food columns, and a range of books and DVDs.
