Derek Mooney

Derek Mooney has a strong background in engineering and leadership roles. Derek is currently the Head of Platform Development at Riverside Insights, a position they have held since 2023. Prior to this, Derek worked at Socialive as the Vice President of Engineering from 2021 to 2023. In this role, they led the engineering organization and implemented various transformations to modernize software architecture and infrastructure. Before Socialive, Derek served as the Engineering Manager, Platform Services at Greenlight Financial Technology in 2020, where they played a key role in launching partnership initiatives and driving the adoption of agile methodologies. From 2018 to 2020, Derek was the Senior Director of Software Engineering at Blackboard, where they spearheaded strategy and engineering for SaaS products. Derek also held the role of Director of Software Engineering at Blackboard from 2010 to 2018 and was responsible for transforming the engineering organization and enhancing product line. Earlier in their career, Derek worked at Wimba, where they served as a Development Manager and Product Manager from 2006 to 2010, focusing on improving product quality and stability. Derek's work experience dates back to 1994, where they held various roles as a Senior Engineer, Architect, and UX Designer at Brownstone Research Group. Throughout their career, Derek has demonstrated strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a dedication to improving software development processes and infrastructure.

Derek Mooney pursued their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Georgia State University, completing their education there from 1995 to 1998. Prior to that, between 1993 and 1995, they attended Berry College. In 2020, Derek pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Western Governors University.
