Yifei Gao

Yifei Gao is a highly skilled Staff Battery Structural Engineer at Rivian since January 2020, with previous experience at General Motors as a Virtual Design, Development and Validation Engineer focused on high voltage battery systems from August 2015 to January 2020. In this role, Yifei Gao developed methods for durability and strength analysis of rechargeable energy storage systems in electric vehicles and trucks. Prior to that, Yifei Gao was a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Akron, where a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering was earned from 2008 to 2014. Yifei Gao holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Thermal and Power Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University, completed in 2007.
