Alexander van der Gaag is a seasoned professional in the veterinary and public health fields, currently serving as a policy advisor for communicable disease control at Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu since November 2020, and also as the chair of the Signaleringsoverleg Infectieziekten. In addition, Alexander has been involved with De Bierverteller since June 2020. Previous experience includes business support and veterinary clinical management at IVC Evidensia Nederland from August 2018 to April 2020, and serving as a mixed species veterinarian across multiple clinics from October 2013 to January 2017.
