Richard James Smith

Richard James Smith has a diverse work experience in the transport and logistics industry. Richard James currently holds the position of Managing Director at the Road Haulage Association (RHA), where they previously served as a Director. Prior to their role at RHA, they worked as the Operations Director at Samworth Brothers Supply Chain, where they implemented changes to improve the overall supply chain performance. Richard James also played a crucial role in restructuring the national operational team and developing employee engagement initiatives.

Before their time at Samworth Brothers, Richard served as a Senior General Manager at Wincanton, where they were responsible for developing the national transport strategy and managing blue chip contracts. Richard James also worked at TDG, where they served as a Senior General Manager and led the development of a central planning function in the UK. During their time at TDG, they successfully secured a major business win in Germany and integrated it into the existing network.

Early in their career, Richard worked as a General Manager at Tennax UK, where they established the UK distribution network for an Italian manufacturer. Richard James also worked at TDG as an Operation Manager, responsible for managing various contracts.

Richard James Smith received a Bachelor's Degree in Economics/Geography from Northumbria University in 1992. Richard James also obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration and Management from the University of Chester between 2012 and 2014.
