Joseph Shrand

Joseph Shrand, MD has a diverse work experience that spans various organizations and roles. Joseph has served as Chief Medical Officer at Riverside Community Care since December 2019. Additionally, Dr. Shrand founded and serves as President of Drug Story Theater, a program focused on using improvisational theater to educate teenagers on drug addiction and recovery. Joseph has held positions such as Medical Director at Road To Responsibility, Inc., Chief of Adolescent Psychiatry at High Point Treatment Center, and Medical Director at Castle: High Point Treatment Center. Dr. Shrand also served as the President of the Board of Directors at Marshfield Community Television. Their earlier experience includes being the Medical Director of Child and Adolescent Ambulatory Services at McLean Hospital.

Joseph Shrand, MD attended Buckingham Browne and Nichols from 1969 to 1976. Joseph then pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Dramatics/Theatre Arts, and Biological Sciences at Sarah Lawrence College from 1976 to 1980. Following that, they completed their medical education at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine from 1986 to 1990. Dr. Shrand went on to receive their MD in Adult Psychiatry Residency from the Institute of Living/UConn in 1993 and completed a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital from 1993 to 1995.
