Jacob Buitelaar

Jacob Buitelaar has a diverse work experience in the finance industry. Jacob currently serves as the Head of Investment Data Engineering & Analytics at Robeco, a position they have held since July 2017. Prior to this, Jacob worked at Goldman Sachs where they held various roles including Managing Director from January 2016 to May 2017, Executive Director at Quantitative Investment Strategies (GSAM - QIS) from April 2012 to December 2015, and Quantitative Strategist - Securities Division from October 2006 to April 2012. In these positions, they led teams, developed analytics and research infrastructure, and worked on portfolio management and optimization using machine learning and natural language processing. Jacob also gained early professional experience as an intern at Rabobank International and Kempen Capital Management in 2005.

Jacob Buitelaar has a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics from Delft University of Technology, which they obtained from 2000 to 2004. Jacob then pursued a Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics from the same university, completing it in 2006. In between, from 2004 to 2005, they studied for a Master's Degree in Quantitative Finance at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

In addition to their formal education, Jacob has obtained various certifications in Python and data science from Coursera. These include certifications in Introduction to Data Science in Python, Introduction to Scripting in Python Specialization, Python Data Analysis, Python Data Representations, Python Data Visualization, and Python Programming Essentials. All of these certifications were obtained in March 2019.
