Dr. Susann Kummer

Lead Of Project Group at Robert Koch Institute

Dr. Susann Kummer has a diverse work experience in various research institutions. Dr. Susann started their career as a Research Assistant at the Center for New Materials and Methods and later moved on to work as a Research Assistant at the Universidad de Salamanca. During their time at Universidad de Salamanca, they conducted a study on neuronal plasticity. Dr. Susann then joined Humboldt University of Berlin as a PhD Student, specializing in Molecular Biophysics. After completing their PhD, Dr. Kummer worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, focusing on NanoBiophotonics and Mitochondrial Dynamics. Dr. Susann later joined the University Hospital Heidelberg as a Senior Scientist in the Department of Infectious Diseases, Virology, where they also held the position of Head of Department. Currently, Dr. Kummer is working as the Lead of a Project Group at the Robert Koch Institute.

Dr. Susann Kummer earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Virology from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2011. Prior to that, they completed their Diplom in Biologie, allgemein at The Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg in 2008, and their Vordiplom in Biologie, allgemein at the University of Bayreuth in 2005.
