Katharina Ladewig has extensive experience in various roles related to public health research, innovation in healthcare, and academia. Katharina is currently the Managing Director for the Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Public Health Research at the Robert Koch Institute, where they combine traditional infectious disease and non-communicable disease research with artificial intelligence methods. Prior to this, they served as the Managing Director for Innovation in Health, where they facilitated the networking of business, science, society, and politics in the healthcare field. Katharina also has experience as the Managing Director for EIT Health in both Germany and the UK-Ireland, where they promoted entrepreneurship and developed innovations in healthy living and active ageing. Katharina has also contributed to the scientific community as an Honorary Research Fellow at The University of Melbourne, where they served as an expert reviewer and evaluator for research grant applications. Katharina has a background in biomedical research, including a PhD in nanomaterials and polymer structures for gene and drug delivery. Additionally, Katharina has worked as a freelance copy-editor for scientific publishers and has conducted research as a Visiting Scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research.
Katharina Ladewig has an extensive education history. Katharina completed their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Melbourne Business School in the years 2013 to 2015. In addition, they earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the same institution in 2013 to 2014. Prior to their business education, Ladewig pursued their academic interests in science. Katharina obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from The University of Queensland between 2005 and 2009. Their educational journey began at Technische Universität Chemnitz, where they obtained a Diplomchemikerin (Master of Science by Research) in Chemistry from 2000 to 2005.
