Robertson Scholars
Jenna Smith is a dedicated student reporter at The 9th St Journal since December 2022 and a Robertson Scholar in the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program, which promotes leadership development at Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill. Jenna has gained hands-on experience as a reporting intern at the Chicago Tribune and as a research assistant at the Duke University School of Law's Wilson Center for Science and Justice, where analytical skills were applied in policy analysis. Jenna was also recognized as one of 21 scholars by the Point Foundation, providing opportunities for mentorship and civic engagement. Additional accomplishments include serving as a documentary intern co-leading the Civil Rights Heritage Archive project, participating in the Vital Voices Visionaries program, and contributing to political campaigns and communications for the North Carolina Democratic Party and U.S. Congressman Tom Malinowski. Jenna is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in International Comparative Studies at Duke University, expected to graduate in 2025.
