Simon A. Weissman

Simon Weissman represents clients in commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, financing, and leasing. He is a member of the firm’s Real Estate + Development Group.

Simon assists clients in acquisitions and dispositions of commercial real estate. He works with clients to plan, structure, negotiate, and document commercial real estate transactions. Simon facilitates these transactions through the preparation of purchase and sale agreements and ancillary documents, tax advisory services, negotiation and management of closing responsibilities, and due diligence investigations.

Simon advises developers and municipalities in connection with mixed-use, retail and commercial developments. Among other development services, Simon assists clients in maintaining environmental compliance, navigating conflicting ownership interests, and obtaining necessary permits to complete development projects.

Simon works with borrowers and lenders in structuring, negotiating, and documenting mortgage loans and reviews title, survey, and due diligence materials.

Simon has experience working with landlords and tenants in complex commercial leasing transactions throughout the country. He assists clients in the negotiation and drafting of new leases, amendments, terminations, subordination agreements, and other leasing transactions. Simon also assists clients in leasing-related transactions, including obtaining estoppel certificates and consent agreements.

Prior to joining Robinson+Cole, Simon was a transactional associate in the New Haven office of a law firm in which he primarily assisted clients with corporate mergers, acquisitions, liquidations, and real estate transactions. In addition to his transactional work, Simon assisted clients with real estate litigation and property tax appeals.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Simon worked in a public accounting firm as a state and local tax associate. While attending law school, Simon was an intern with the Office of the Corporation Counsel for the City of New Haven, a law clerk for a commercial litigation firm, a law pro bono volunteer intern at the UConn School of Law Taxpayer Advocacy Clinic, and an Executive Editor for the Connecticut Public Interest Law Journal.
