Daihong (Alex) Chao has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Daihong (Alex) has held various roles in different organizations.
Starting in 2008, Chao worked as a Manufacturing Manager at Tianhua Jierui LTD until 2010. In 2007, they served as a Post-doctoral Fellow at Beihang University before becoming an Assistant Professor in 2009. At Beihang University, Chao led a team and developed FOG-based inertial navigation systems for oil and gas field applications.
In 2013, Chao joined the University of Calgary as a Master Student and Research Assistant. During their time there, they focused on developing low-cost solutions for industrial applications, including a MEMS-based Measurement While Drilling (MWD) system.
In 2016, Chao transitioned to Micro Engineering Tech Inc, where they held multiple roles. Daihong (Alex) started as a Geomatics Developer, responsible for R&D and product application for mobile mapping systems and UAV navigation. Daihong (Alex) then became a Senior Research Developer, and eventually a Business Development Manager, all focusing on the Chinese market.
Most recently, Chao worked at RoboGarden Inc as the Chief Business Development Officer for China, starting in December 2018, and also as a Business Development Manager for China since June 2017.
Throughout their career, Chao has demonstrated expertise in business development, research, and development of navigation systems, particularly in the oil and gas industry. Daihong (Alex) has also been involved in academic research and has been published in various fields.
Daihong (Alex) Chao completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from Beihang University from 1997 to 2007. Daihong (Alex) later pursued a Master's degree in Geomatics Engineering from the University of Calgary, which they completed between 2014 and 2016.
