Ian Jacobs has a diverse work experience in the field of character art and design. Ian began their career as a Graphic Artist at BYU Broadcasting in 2001 and worked there until 2004. Following this, they joined Sandman Studios as a 3D Modeler and Texture Artist for a short period.
In 2004, Ian started working at The Walt Disney Company as a Senior Character Artist and Toy Sculptor. Ian played a crucial role in creating a unified toy design for the Disney Infinity franchise and contributed to the development of a toy development pipeline. Ian also served as a Character Lead on two projects and created 25 toy sculpts during their time there. Ian worked at Disney until 2016.
After leaving Disney, Ian joined castAR as a Senior Character Artist in 2016, where they were responsible for creating a character customization system and collaborating with a small team to develop augmented reality experiences.
In 2017, Ian joined Playful Studios as a Senior Character Artist, Environment Artist, and Level Builder. Ian worked on four IP properties and contributed to the establishment of the art style for the Lucky's Tale franchise. Ian'stasks included modeling, level building, and lighting. Ian worked at Playful Studios until 2020.
In the same year, Ian also worked at Boss Fight Entertainment as a Senior Character Artist, where they made contributions until the end of 2021.
From 2020 to 2021, Ian also worked as a Freelance Character & Environment Artist at Playful Studios.
In 2022, Ian joined Wildlife Studios as a Senior Character Artist II. Ian was responsible for setting up pipelines for asset creation and marketing renders, including a pipeline that allowed for the creation of 35 characters in 4 months. Ian also created documentation to streamline the onboarding process for new artists.
Most recently, Ian joined Roboto Games in 2023 as a Senior Character Artist.
Ian Jacobs attended Brigham Young University from 2001 to 2005, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Animation.
