Barend van Bergen

Barend van Bergen currently serves as the Chief Sustainability Officer at Roche since February 2024. Prior to this role, Barend was a Partner at EY from February 2017 to February 2024, where responsibilities included advising clients on Sustainability and ESG strategies as the EY Global Long Term Value Methodology Leader. Additionally, Barend held a position as a Visiting Fellow at Yale School of Management from October 2016 to September 2017, focusing on impact measurement and valuation. Barend's extensive career at KPMG spanned over 18 years, including five years as a Partner, where leadership involved the development and global rollout of the KPMG True Value methodology. Earlier experience includes founding an environmental consulting practice, VBMA, from 1994 to 1998. Barend holds an Engineer’s Degree in Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences from Eindhoven University of Technology, earned between 1989 and 1994.
