Johanna Schafer

Johanna Schafer, PhD, is a Senior Scientist and PHCS Assay Technical Lead at Roche since August 2022, where the focus is on evaluating tumor specimens for clinically-relevant biomarkers to aid in patient selection for oncology clinical trials. Prior to this role, Johanna co-led the development of a multispectral imaging platform at the Immune Monitoring & Discovery Platform for the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (OSUCCC), and served as a post-doctoral research fellow in tumor immunology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Additional experience includes research positions at Vanderbilt University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, and internships at the US Environmental Protection Agency and UCLA. Johanna earned a PhD in Biochemistry from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from North Carolina State University, complemented by minors in Microbiology and Genetics.
