Keena Marima

Keena Marima, PhD, is a Senior Scientist at Roche focusing on sequencing assay development and an Extraordinary Appointment as a Lecturer at the Faculty of AgriSciences at Stellenbosch University. They have previously worked as a Staff Scientist in the Molecular/Microbiology Department at Lancet Laboratories, where they managed COVID-19 testing processes. Keena's research interests include the use of molecular biology and omics technologies to enhance livestock genetics, addressing economically important traits and animal welfare. With a strong educational background culminating in a PhD in Animal Breeding & Genetics, Keena has actively contributed to collaborative research, particularly in identifying genetic biomarkers for cattle resistance to ticks.
