Reiner Wimmer

Reiner Wimmer is a Principal Scientist at Roche since May 2020, specializing in the engineering and application of immuno-competent organoid and organ-on-chip models, particularly focusing on human vascularized models for drug safety and efficacy profiling. Prior experience includes roles as a Scientist, where Wimmer developed predictive in vitro models for drug assessment in various therapeutic areas, and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at IMBA, where Wimmer generated human blood vessel organoids to study disease. Academic background encompasses a PhD at Universität Wien focused on angiogenesis and tumor progression, as well as a Master's study at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry investigating the role of Profilin 1 in cytokinesis. Wimmer earned a Dipl. Ing. in Biotechnology from Hochschule Weihenstephan-Triesdorf.
