Vanessa Herman is the Vice President of Government and Community Relations at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Vanessa has extensive experience in governmental relations and community outreach, having served in various capacities at Pace University, Applied DNA Sciences, and Stony Brook University. At Pace, Vanessa was responsible for daily oversight and management of the Office of Government and Community Relations in NYC and Westchester. Vanessa created and implemented comprehensive government, community and public relations plans to promote and benefit Pace University and its many constituencies. Vanessa's work at Applied DNA Sciences focused on government relations for the company, which provides molecular technologies for supply chain security, anti-counterfeiting and anti-theft technology, product genotyping and DNA mass production for diagnostics and therapeutics. Prior to their work in the private sector, Vanessa served as the Assistant Director of Governmental Relations at Stony Brook University. In this role, they were responsible for advocating for the university at the local, state, and federal level. Vanessa's work has positively impacted countless individuals and organizations, and they are widely respected as a leader in their field.

Vanessa Herman has a MA in Literature/Sociology from Stony Brook University, a BA in Political Science and Sociology from Stony Brook University, and an AAS in Criminal Justice from Suffolk County Community College.
