Herbert Smith

Herbert Smith is a seasoned musician and educator with a diverse background in jazz and orchestral music. Currently serving as the Director of Jazz Bands at the Rochester Institute of Technology since August 2017, Smith also holds the position of Third Trumpet with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra since September 1999. Previously, Smith was a teacher with Blues in Schools from 2005 to 2007 and has been a self-employed musician. Smith obtained a Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Education from the Eastman School of Music, where studies took place from 1987 to 1991.
