Calvin Herman

Calvin Herman is a fourth-year PhD student and Graduate Fellow at The Rockefeller University, specializing in the molecular mechanisms of bacterial defense against viruses. In addition to research, Calvin is actively involved in mentoring high school students through the LAB Jumpstart program and providing guidance to first-year PhD students in navigating graduate life. As the founder of the "Becoming a Scientist" course, Calvin has successfully led programs focusing on biology research fundamentals for community college students. Previous experiences include conducting research at New York University and Hunter College, where significant contributions were made to pediatric tissue analysis and T-cell receptor investigations. Calvin's educational background includes a PhD in Bacteriology from The Rockefeller University and dual Bachelor's degrees in Biological Sciences from Macaulay Honors College and Hunter College.
