Yasuo Sakuma

Yasuo Sakuma is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of reproductive neuroendocrinology, currently serving as Professor Emeritus at Nippon Medical School since May 1993, while also holding the position of President Emeritus at the University of Tokyo Health Sciences and Adjunct Professor at Rockefeller University. With a career beginning in April 1975, Yasuo has held various academic roles, including Professor and Department Head at Hirosaki University School of Medicine and Associate Professor at Niigata University and Gunma University. Yasuo's research interests have evolved from reproductive neuroendocrinology to studying female rat reproductive behavior and the neural basis of sexual motivation, alongside investigating GnRH cell physiology and the mechanisms governing puberty onset and estrogen's neural actions. Additionally, Yasuo served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Physiological Sciences from March 2008 to March 2013. Yasuo holds an MD in Medicine and a PhD in Physiology from Yokohama City University and The Rockefeller University, respectively.
