Shanaya Barretto

Shanaya Barretto is an accomplished Electrical Engineer currently employed at Rocket Lab since September 2024, with extensive experience leading electrical systems projects. As Electrical Advisor and Team Lead at UW Orbital since January 2022, Shanaya developed key components for a competition-winning CubeSat, enhancing its electrical power system and attitude determination and control systems. During a tenure as Electrical Power Systems Lead, responsibility included supervising schematic design and firmware development for battery management systems and power regulation boards. Additional roles include Embedded Systems Developer at onsemi, designing BLE applications, and Firmware Developer at Miovision, focusing on IMU calibration. Shanaya has also gained experience in DevOps and teaching, and is pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
