Amy Salem is an accomplished animal welfare professional currently serving as the Associate Director of Animal Welfare Operations and Training at Merck since May 2006. In this role, Amy leads IACUC business processes to ensure compliance across all Merck US sites, oversees the accuracy of data for institutional reporting, and manages CITIES permits for endangered species. Additionally, Amy develops and implements a comprehensive IACUC training program. Prior to this, Amy held the position of Manager of Regulatory Affairs and later Associate Director of Regulatory Affairs at the University of Pennsylvania from May 1999 to May 2006. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Veterinary Science and Animal Bio Science, a Master’s in Poultry Nutrition, a Bachelor of Science in Animal BioScience, and an Associate of Science in Veterinary/Animal Health Technology from prestigious institutions including Penn State University and the University of Delaware.
