Steve Hertig, CHPC, is vice president of regulatory affairs for Rogers Behavioral Health. In this role, he oversees the strategy and effectiveness of the compliance function throughout the System. Additionally, he collaborates with employees to ensure they are meeting their federal, state, and Joint Commission standards.
Steve joined Rogers in 2018 as director of compliance and became executive director two years later. He has helped lead internal and external activities, including all CMS, Joint Commission, and state surveys, and handles all confidentiality/HIPAA issues as the System privacy officer.
Prior to Rogers, he was the chief compliance officer at the behavioral health organization Phoenix Care Systems. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Lubar School of Business, and received his certification in privacy through the Health Care Compliance Association in 2020. He recently contributed to the Textbook of Hospital Psychiatry relating to hospital risk management strategies in collaboration with Jerry Halverson, MD, chief medical officer.
