Steven Layton

Steven Layton is the Head of Engineering Operations at Rolls-Royce plc and the Director at the National College for Nuclear. With over 30 years of experience since joining Rolls-Royce as an apprentice in 1988, Steven has worked across Civil Aerospace, Corporate Engineering, and the Defence sector, focusing on engineering excellence and business management. Steven holds a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University and an MSc in Programme Management from the University of Manchester. Currently, they lead efforts to enhance the Engineering team’s capability during a period of business growth, including the establishment of a Nuclear Skills Academy in collaboration with the University of Derby.
