Doug Brien is a former NFL placekicker who transitioned into entrepreneurship and real estate investing. They co-founded Waypoint Real Estate Group (2009–2017), which managed approximately 3,100 single-family homes. They co-founded Mynd in 2016 and are CEO and Co-Founder. In May 2024, they merged their companies with Gary Beasley and became President and CEO of Roofstock, where they aim to build the premier SFR operating company by combining Roofstock's investment capabilities with Mynd's property management services; they also serve as Executive in Residence at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. They earned an MBA in Finance from Tulane University's A.B. Freeman School of Business and a degree in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley, and they attended De La Salle High School.
