John Bridges has a diverse work experience in the healthcare and emergency services sectors. John started their career in 1983 as an NBRC-RRT at Roosevelt General Hospital and worked in this role until 1999. From 1988 to 2006, they concurrently served in various positions at the Portales Fire Department, including Lieutenant Firefighter, Battalion Chief, and EMS Division Chief. John then joined Roosevelt General Hospital in 2001 as a RRT/Director Cardiopulmonary until 2006. Following that, they worked as the Fire/EMS Chief at the Portales Fire Department from 2006 to 2009. John returned to Roosevelt General Hospital in 2009 and held positions such as Assistant Director of Nursing and Emergency Room-RRT/NREMT-Paramedic. In 2013, they became the Director of Safety & Emergency Preparedness, and in 2018, they were promoted to Chief of Ancillary & Support Services/Safety/Emergency Preparedness.

John Bridges began their education in 1981 at ENMU, earning an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Pre-Medicine/Pre-Medical Studies by 1986. During the same period, they also obtained an Associates in EMS, specializing in Emergency Medical Services Paramedic. From 1986 to 1988, Bridges attended the California College for Health Sciences, where they pursued a degree in Associates Respiratory Therapy, focusing on Respiratory Care Therapy/Therapist. In 2008, they participated in the Boulder Outdoor Survival School Alumni program, acquiring knowledge in Wilderness Survival. Lastly, in 2012-2013, Bridges attended the International Board of Environmental Health and Safety and successfully obtained a degree as a Registered Healthcare Safety Officer.
