Carola Binder

Short-term Researcher at Roosevelt Institute

Carola Binder has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Carola started their career as a Research Intern at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where they worked on laboratory experiments and data analysis. Carola then worked as a Research Experience for Undergraduates in Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology, conducting math research. Carola further gained experience as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant in the Georgia Tech Math Department, where they led recitations and provided academic support to students.

Carola also interned at the Georgia Senate Budget and Evaluation Office, where they analyzed budget data and prepared reports related to education. Carola later served as an Intern at the National Center for Education Research, where they created a database of psychometric strategies used by researchers.

During their time at UC Berkeley, Carola worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and completed their Economics PhD. Carola also received a Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation, which provided funding for their research.

Carola was a Short-term Researcher at the Roosevelt Institute before joining Haverford College as an Assistant Professor of Economics, where they currently hold a position.

Additionally, Carola worked as an Information Analyst at the Center for Advanced Communications Policy, where they contributed to a research project on technology's impact on employment for people with disabilities.

Carola Binder obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they also pursued a minor in Economics. This educational journey took place between the years 2006 and 2010. Later, Carola pursued their passion for Economics and completed their PhD at the University of California, Berkeley, starting in 2010 and finishing in 2015.
