Lawrence Robinson currently serves as the Director of the Maricopa Community College District's Center for Civic Participation. He is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College where he earned degrees in both Religious Studies and Government. He also earned his Juris Doctorate from NYU School of Law where he focused his studies on Critical Race Theory as well as Constitutional Law. He formerly served as a Policy Advisor to Mayor Greg Stanton on issues including education and homelessness and has been a professor at the Arizona Summit Law School, where he teaches courses including civil rights and constitutional litigation.
Lawrence is a member of the Roosevelt School District Governing Board, where he has championed an innovative anti-bullying policy, expanded access to after-school programs, and founded a non-profit called Good Things Grow building outdoor classrooms where students can get their hands dirty learning about STEM. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Arizona School Board Association.
