Shelley Jackson

Roosevelt Elementary School District No. 66 Governing Board Member Shelley Jackson is a dedicated community organizer, focused on advancing her community. She has worked in classrooms, after school programs focused on character development and directly with teachers providing trainings on social-emotional learning.

Ms. Jackson serves as the Deputy Director of Training and Engagement at Instituto, whose mission is building sustained political power for low income and communities of color in Arizona. She is also a board member at the Booker T. Washington Child Development Center. Her goal as a governing board member is to create meaningful policy and practices that positively benefit the students, staff and community.

Ms. Jackson was born and raised in South Phoenix. She was a third-generation RSD student, attending both Martin Luther King Jr. and Percy L. Julian. She graduated from ASU with a bachelor’s degree in in community advocacy and social policy with a minor in dance. She also serves as a collaborator with Rising Youth Theatre.
