Kelsey Scott, MPH, CHES®, serves as a Senior Public Health Communications Advisor at Roots Community Health Center, leading a team of communication specialists in executing impactful health promotion campaigns. With a background that includes roles such as Communications Manager and Health Communication Advisor, Kelsey has successfully increased community engagement and program participation through strategic communication initiatives. Kelsey gained valuable experience as an Information Futures Fellow, participating in a community-based health intervention project, and has held positions such as Occupational Safety and Health Coordinator during the COVID-19 pandemic. Academic credentials include a Master of Public Health from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Health Communication from San Diego State University.

Roots Community Health Center
Roots Community Health Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to reducing health disparities in East Oakland, California. Roots is the first community health center in East Oakland to provide physician care at patient homes and residential facilities. Roots Community Health Center celebrated the opening of its new facility at 9925 International Blvd. in March of 2011. Our mission The mission of Roots Community Health Center is to uplift those impacted by systematic inequities and poverty by providing culturally responsive, comprehensive healthcare, behavioral health, and wraparound services; identifying and addressing root causes of illness and suffering; and emphasizing self-sufficiency and community empowerment. Roots Community Health Center accomplishes its mission by providing top-quality healthcare, conducting community-based participatory research, and offering opportunities for rehabilitation, education, training, and employment to reduce poverty and dependency in our community. Roots implements its programs and services while honoring the “roots” of culture, heritage, and tradition; by providing unprecedented access to services; by remaining community-aware and community-responsive; and by establishing partnerships to ensure a more efficient continuum of care in Oakland.
