Renzo Ottoy

Renzo Ottoy has a diverse work experience in the compliance and legal fields. Renzo is currently working at SMT Holding as the Head of Compliance Group. Prior to this, they held the role of Chief Risk & Compliance Officer (CRO) at ROOV. Renzo also has experience as a Managing Partner at Smart Compliance Solutions and as a Senior Compliance Specialist at ING Belgium. Additionally, Renzo has worked as a senior compliance consultant at Mercier Vanderlinden and Degroof Petercam. Renzo has served as a senior legal counsel (compliance) at Euroclear and as a senior compliance advisor at KBC Securities. Earlier in their career, Renzo was the Head of Department (legal and individual support unit) at Unia • Interfederal Centre for Equal Opportunities and the Co-founder & CEO of MPB.

Renzo Ottoy completed their Master of Laws / Licentiaat Rechten from Ghent University between 1998 and 2004. Renzo then pursued a Master of Science in Business Economics (option public management) from Ghent University between 2010 and 2013. In addition, they obtained several certifications including the GIAC Foundational Cybersecurity Technologies (GFACT) from GIAC Certifications in June 2023, the certified compliance officer recognized by the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) and the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) from Febelfin Academy in 2020, the DPO certificate (GDPR) from the Data Protection Institute in 2019, the magistrates training (public prosecutor/judge) from FOD Justitie SPF Justice in 2008, and the official bar examination (Lawyers license / BUBA-attest) from Balie Gent in 2005. Renzo also attended Belgian Defence in 2009, and completed their secondary education at SMI Aalst before 1998.
