R Daniel O'Connor is a partner at Ropes & Gray LLP, where since January 2008, R Daniel has co-led the Securities & Futures Enforcement practice, representing public companies and investment advisers in civil and criminal enforcement matters before the SEC, DOJ, and various regulators. Prior to this, O'Connor served as Senior Trial Counsel at the Securities and Exchange Commission from January 2004 to January 2008, focusing on the prosecution and investigation of violations of federal securities laws. O'Connor's legal career began at Ropes & Gray in 1996 as a Senior Litigation Associate, providing counsel on complex commercial disputes and governmental enforcement matters. Before entering the legal field, O'Connor served as a Submarine Officer in the US Navy from 1988 to 1993, where responsibilities included leading operations on a ballistic missile submarine. O'Connor holds a JD, summa cum laude, from Boston College Law School and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy.
