Senior Risk Officer

Position Overview: The Senior Risk Officer – Europe is responsible for ensuring that Roscommon Analytics’ risk policy is adhered to within the region. 

This role is the only Risk team member in the region, with the remaining team members in US; therefore we are looking for individual who can operate independently while representing the Global Risk function in the region.

Responsibilities: Continuous assessment of risks and threats to trading portfolios domiciled in Europe; ensure that all material deployments of capital are supported by proper analytics and information, investment theses, an execution plan; and that appropriate boundary conditions exist and are adhered to. Attribute and assess risk adjusted returns to key trades and market fundamental risk factors.

Required skills and experience:

• 7-10 years+ experience in the European Power & Gas sector, either working in trading or risk functions.
• Understanding of standard risk tools and methods, including VaR and stress-testing.
• Understanding of vanilla options and how to assess the risk of an options portfolio.
• Self-motivated individual who can take the lead on reviewing business development in the region, resolving issues that occur, and identify the risk analysis to be undertaken.
• Pro-active and collaborative approach to work with traders to understand the risks in the portfolio, and to ensure that limit excesses are managed in line with the risk policy.
• Quantitative skills to undertake risk and market data analysis.
• Proficiency in python and with experience in SQL: the role involves extracting data from SQL databases and performing analysis using python. Not required to the standard of a python developer, the role requires enough experience to be self-sufficient in performing risk analysis and building reports when required.

Preferred skills and experience:

• Experience in data analysis to assess performance of traders; and to performance analysis on energy market data to identify correlations and hedging opportunities.
• Experience in working with technology teams to input requirements for new risk reports and tools. Provide support in performing UAT for new IT systems or reports.
• Understanding of initial margin reports and tools (e.g. ICE Clearing Analytics)
