In their earlier roles, they served as a Senior Data Engineer at Clinton Group, a hedge fund, primarily handling the backend of their flagship multistrategy and Quantitative Equity Strategy funds. Charles also held the position of Director of Data Engineering at Simile Software and Director of Architecture Group at StarMedia Network Inc. In these roles, Charles worked on rebuilding data models, rewriting PL/SQL code, optimizing performance, providing infrastructure solutions, and developing web applications.

Charles started their career as a Senior Analyst at American Interactive Media, a startup focused on providing cable set-top boxes with email services. Charles also worked as a Developer at Johns Hopkins Medicine, where they worked on rendering software for displaying data from the Taylor Brain Atlas.

Charles Lee completed their high school education at the Bronx High School of Science from 1986 to 1990, earning a high school diploma. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology at Brandeis University from 1990 to 1994.
