Amir Lara has a diverse work experience, starting in 2001 when they worked as an IT Consultant for their own business. In 2003, they joined Roses Southwest Papers Inc., where they held various roles. Initially, they served as a Network Administrator/Systems Engineer until 2008, when they transitioned into the position of IT and Finance Director.
Amir Lara earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance and Financial Management Services from the UNM Anderson School of Management, where they studied from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) from The University of New Mexico, completing their studies from 2004 to 2008. Additionally, they have also earned several certifications from Microsoft, including MCTS, MCSA, MCSE, and Microsoft Certified Professional, with completion dates ranging from 2002 to 2007. In 2019, they obtained a certification in "Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy" from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
