Stephan M. Haefele

Senior Research Scientist at Rothamsted Research

Stephan M. Haefele has had a varied and extensive work experience in the field of plant sciences. Stephan M. started their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the West Africa Rice Development Association in 2001 and continued this role until 2002. In 2003, they joined the International Rice Research Institute as a Senior Scientist and remained in this position until 2012.

In 2013, Haefele transitioned to the University of Adelaide, where they held multiple roles. Initially, they worked as a Senior Research Fellow, beginning in February 2013. Later in the same year, they were promoted to the position of Senior Research Fellow and Manager/Head of the Phenotyping group. In this capacity, they were responsible for managing growth facilities, leading the phenotyping group, and coordinating phenotyping activities with various partners. Additionally, they took on the task of leading a biotechnology project and conducting field tests on transgenic plants.

Most recently, Haefele joined Rothamsted Research in 2017 as a Senior Research Scientist, a role they currently hold.

Stephan M. Haefele pursued their education from 1991 to 2001 at the University of Hamburg. During this period, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the field of soil science and biology.
