Ongezwa obtained a National Higher Certificate in Agriculture from Grootfontein Agricultural Institute in Middleburg EC in 2006. He obtained a BSc Agriculture (Soil Science and Agronomy) at the University of Free State in 2010. He also studied through Unisa School of Business Leadership, where he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration in 2017. His career at Rotondo started in 2011 working in the nursery and in 2018 he started working as Processing Manager.
