Steve Bell has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Steve began their career in 1982 as a Technical Trainee at the Physics and Engineering Laboratory, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), where they gained experience in electronic design and equipment construction. Steve then worked as an Engineer at the Technical Services Division, A.W.A. (New Zealand) Ltd., before starting their own company, Digital Design Ltd., where they designed and built a GPS Track Monitor for helicopters.

In 1987, Steve joined the Airways Corporation of New Zealand Ltd. as an Assistant Navigation Services Specialist. Steve designed new routes and developed software for route calculations using Digital Terrain Models (DTMs). Steve also held the role of President at Digital Design Inc., where they developed HeliNav, a navigation system for helicopters and tiltrotor aircraft.

Steve's career in IT began in 2010 when they worked as an IT Manager at Iris Networks, responsible for all IT systems. Steve then became President of Digital Design Inc., doing contract work for multiple clients. In 2014, they joined Sophos as a Senior Systems Engineer and Team Lead, managing production environments for various systems. In 2017, they joined TraceLink as a Sr. Cloud Engineer, involved in developing tooling to support cloud infrastructure.

Most recently, Steve joined Rotor as a Senior Flight Test Engineer/Pilot in 2023.
