Charlie Smoothy

Charlie Smoothy is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in policy and cybersecurity. Currently serving as a Policy Fellow at the Royal Academy of Engineering since April 2022, Smoothy also holds the position of Head of National Security Cyber Policy at the UK Home Office and previously was Chief of Staff for Data Capabilities. Smoothy founded the Cross-Whitehall AI International Network and held significant roles at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, including Senior Adviser for International & Security Preparedness. Having begun a career in public affairs with roles at ZPB Associates, Portman Group, UK Parliament, and several internships, Smoothy's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from the University of Leeds.
