Mike, who was appointed to the Board as a non-executive director on 7 December 2009, is Chair of the Social and Ethics Committee. Mike served in operational, technical, managerial and executive capacities in the southern African mining industry for over 50 years. During this period, he gained experience in underground and surface mining and beneficiation in the coal, gold platinum, copper and antimony industries. He is a past president of the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

Royal Bafokeng Platinum Limited is a mid-tier platinum group metals producer. The Company operates the Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine (BRPM) through a joint venture (BRPM JV) and is engaged in developing Styldrift I Project located in the North West province of South Africa. Its segments include BRPM mining segment, Styldrift mining segment, BRPM JV mining segment and RBPlat housing segment. BRPM JV is located on the Western Limb of the Bushveld Igneous Complex, approximately 30 kilometers northwest of the town of Rustenburg in the North West province of South Africa. The Company operates BRPM with two decline shafts. Its operations are located in the North West province of South Africa, 120 kilometers from Johannesburg and 17 kilometers from Phokeng. Its Styldrift I project is an underground mine lying five kilometers from the North shaft of BRPM, and is located within the boundaries of the Styldrift and Frischgewaagd farms.
