Richard Pratt

Richard Pratt possesses 25 years of legal experience in both private practice and in-house environments, offering expertise in embedded legal assistance and cost-effective legal advice. Currently a member of the Board of Directors and a Volunteer Fitness Instructor at the YMCA of Oakville since September 2020, Richard serves as Managing Counsel at RBC since February 2015. Prior roles include Senior Legal Counsel at Richard Pratt, Barrister & Solicitor from January 2014 to January 2015, and Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at Avalon Rare Metals Inc. from January 2012 to January 2014. Richard held the position of General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Vice President, Administration at MagIndustries Corp. from May 2008 to December 2011, and was a Partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP from January 1996 to February 2008. Earlier experiences include working as an Associate at Inch, Easterbrook & Shaker from 1990 to 1995 and as an Articling Student at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP from 1987 to 1988. Richard earned a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University and a B.Comm. (Honours) from the University of Manitoba.
