Laura Smith

Laura Smith is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in financial management and policy development. Currently serving as the Director General of Investment Planning and Portfolio Management at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police since February 2023, Laura previously held the position of Executive Director of Financial Policy and Community Development at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat from January 2021 to February 2023. Prior experience at the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation includes roles such as Director of Risk Management Operations, Director of Professional Practices, Director of Finance for Assisted Housing, and Manager of Main Estimates and Financial Analysis between 2013 and January 2021. Laura began her career as an Auditor at the Office of the Auditor General from 2002 to 2005. Academic credentials include a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and Accounting from McGill University, earned between 1997 and 2001.
