Ian Jeffery

Lay Trustee at Royal College of General Practitioners

Ian Jeffery is the former Chief Executive of Lewis Silkin, one of the UK's largest law firms and a market leader both in Employment Law and in overall legal advice to clients in the Creative Industries and Creative Economy. Ian qualified as a solicitor in 1992, became a partner in 1998 and was elected Managing Partner in 2005. He then led Lewis Silkin for fifteen years, combining his skills and experience as an intellectual property lawyer with an MBA from London Business School. Achievements include leading the growth of the business to three times its original scale, overseeing international expansion and contributing to its national recognition as one of the Sunday Times Best 100 Companies to work for, nine times in succession.

Since stepping down as Chief Executive Ian has been working on a number of venture development projects in legal services alongside a number of advisory board roles. He remains a consultant to Lewis Silkin as part of a wider portfolio of professional interests.

Before becoming a Lay Trustee of RCGP in 2017 Ian had served five years as a lay trustee of Kings College London Students Union.
