Mary White

CFO & Interim Secretary to Council at Royal Holloway, University of London

Mary White joined Royal Holloway University of London in April 2020 as Chief Financial Officer. Mary was previously at the University of Southampton where she had worked for 21 years in various roles across the University. In her final role as Director of Finance - Operations she was responsible for over 100 staff delivering the core finance functions and she successfully led several projects designed to deliver sustainable change within the University.

At Royal Holloway, Mary has both financial and governance responsibilities. She sits on the Executive Board, the Finance Committee and the Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee. She is responsible for the production of the financial statements and setting the annual budgets, as well as ensuring the College complies with governance and statutory regulations from a financial perspective. She oversees the both the Finance and the Legal & Compliance departments.

Mary is currently developing a financial strategy to ensure the future financial sustainability of the University and is looking to improve the College’s internal governance and processes, so they support their operations effectively and efficiently.

In her spare time Mary sings in the Southampton Philharmonic Choir and likes to keep active, spending time at the gym when possible.
