Arjan de Vries

Lead Engineer Naval/ Maritime Equipment Engineer at Royal IHC

Arjan de Vries has a diverse range of work experience in the engineering and maritime industry. Arjan began their career in 2009 as a Project Engineer at Holland Jachtbouw Zaandam BV, where they worked on the preparation of manuals for sailing and motor yachts. In 2011, they joined Mercon as a Production Administrator, assisting with maintenance and repair work at the TATA Steel site.

Since 2012, Arjan has been working at Royal IHC in various roles. Arjan started as a Basic Engineer Naval, responsible for the technical purchasing and implementation of maritime equipment for pipe laying vessels. In 2015, they became the Lead Engineer Naval for two LNG-powered trailing suction hopper dredgers for DEME, coordinating a team of engineers and ensuring timely delivery of engineering packages. In 2017, they took on the role of Discipline Lead Maritime Equipment and later became the Lead Engineer Naval/Maritime Equipment Engineer, overseeing the engineering package for a trailing suction hopper dredger for "de Boer, Dutch Dredging".

Arjan de Vries completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Naval Architecture / Maritime Engineering at Inholland University of Applied Sciences from 2000 to 2007. Prior to that, they studied Mechanical Engineering & Industrial Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology from 1998 to 2000. Arjan also holds additional certifications such as "Insight to Offshore" obtained from IHC Services, "VOL VCA" from NIBHV, and "Pre-University Education" from Kennemer Lyceum. Additionally, they have obtained an EFSET English Certificate with a score of 81/100, demonstrating proficiency in English (CEFR C2).
