Simon H. Lee

Co-editor-in-chief, Weather at Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS)

Simon H. Lee has extensive work experience in the field of meteorology and climate science. Simon H. currently holds the position of Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Columbia University in the City of New York, starting in November 2021. Prior to this, they served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Royal Meteorological Society journal 'Weather', a prestigious role they held since September 2020. Alongside this, Simon was a PHD Student at the University of Reading from September 2018 to October 2021, where they also worked as a PhD Student Assistant for the 'Weather and Climate Discussion' program from January 2019 to June 2020. Simon H. gained valuable experience during their time as a Visiting PHD Student at the University of Oklahoma from May 2019 to August 2019, where they analyzed North American weather regimes. Simon also served as an Open Day Ambassador at the University of Reading from June 2015 to June 2018.

Simon H. Lee attended St Aidan's High School in Harrogate from 2007 to 2014, where they completed their high school education. Simon H. then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Meteorology and Climate at the University of Reading from 2014 to 2018. During their time at the University of Reading, they also studied Meteorology at the University of Oklahoma for one year from 2016 to 2017. After completing their Master's degree, Simon went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from the University of Reading, which they completed in 2021.
