Joost vander Auwera

Joost Vander Auwera is an accomplished art historian and curator, serving as Senior Curator Section Head a.i. at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts Brussels since 2008, where responsibilities include research, publishing, and exhibition organization focused on 17th century painting and museology. Additionally, Joost manages the Old Master Drawings and Sculptures section while contributing as a Pro Secretary for the Orde van den Prince since 1996. Joost has a strong academic background, holding a PhD in Art History from Ghent University and a distinction in Cultural Management from Vlerick Business School. Teaching experience includes lecturing in Museology and Cultural Management at Ghent University from 2005 to 2012. Joost has also served as President of the Royal Academy of Archeology of Belgium, focusing on strategic development for the organization.
