Prof. Dr. Gareth W. Peters is the Duncan Endowed Chair Professor of Statistics for Risk and Insurance at UC Santa Barbara since June 2021. In addition to this role, Peters is an Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Young Academy of Scotland, a Chartered Statistician of the Royal Statistical Society, and a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. As an Honorary Professor of Statistics, Peters is affiliated with University College London, UNSW, and the University of Sydney. Peters also serves as an Associate Member of the Oxford-Man Institute at the University of Oxford and the Systemic Risk Center at The London School of Economics and Political Science. Further contributions include being a Core Member of the Center for Statistics at The University of Edinburgh. Educational qualifications include an MS in Statistics from the University of Cambridge, a PhD in Statistics from UNSW, and dual Bachelor's degrees in Mathematical Statistics and Probability and Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Melbourne.
